Howdy!
Thank you for your interests in Company H-1. The mission of Company H-1 is to produce exceptional leaders of character and competence for the armed services or the civilian sectors of society. In addition, Cadets in H-1 are expected to excel in academics, physical training, and the knowledge of this university and the military services.
As an incoming freshman, you will be faced with many different choices that will affect your academic success. Many freshmen often lose sight of why they are here and get caught up in other pursuits besides academic related goals. H-1 seeks to mold young men using the whole person approach, striving to create successful students who are capable, mature, and physically fit to meet any challenges they may face in life with confidence and enthusiasm.
As in any military institution, H-1 competes in competitions that test ones physical abilities, and mental toughness. The Bloody Cross is an annual race within the Corps of Cadets that H-1 has a long track record of winning. H-1 has also excelled in the Obstacle Course competition, the Commando Endurance Skills Competition, Cadet Challenge, as well as others. Because of these accomplishments, H-1 has a well-earned reputation throughout the Corps as being a very physically fit and a close-knit outfit.
H-1 has a history of Cadets striving to become officers in all branches of the military, this helps create a professional attitude among H-1 Cadets. In addition to ROTC Leadership Laboratory, H-1 strives to arm its Cadets with an extensive knowledge of the Navy and Marine Corps, in areas such as history, customs and courtesies, and military jargon. While this information is valuable to those going into the Navy or Marine Corps, it is also a wealth of knowledge that should be known by any person involved with a military organization. In addition to military courtesies, physical fitness, and good grades, H-1 seeks to instill an attitude of excellence in every area of one’s life. Because of these traits, Cadets in H-1 are truly:
Ace of Spades
Jack of All Trades
Best Damn Outfit Ever
